Natural Hoof Care is based on research done in recent years on wild horses, who have feet that allow them to move comfortably over some of the harshest terrain without the aid of horse shoes. This research has helped us understand how we can create this in our domestic horses. The findings taught us about the importance of the entire lifestyle of the horse that is necessary to create and maintain a sound, naturally functioning hoof, of which diet, habitat and exercise all play a huge role. The natural trim is just a start to creating health and soundness of the whole horse.

The AANHCP motto, "Cause no harm...respect the healing power of nature," stresses that natural hoof care will not invade the living structure of the hoof, but instead provides the hoof with the form that allows its proper natural function...and this function allows nature to take over and heal the hoof from the inside out.
